Potter’s Field’s involvement in Uganda began in 2009 through the recommendation of Pastor Don McClure of Calvary Way, and his connection with Pastor Craig Linquist of Calvary Chapel Entebbe, Uganda. The ensuing partnership birthed PFM’s first-ever PFK Saturday Kids Club and was the catalyst of many developments in the Potter’s Field Kids programs.
In Uganda, PFK consists of the abovementioned Saturday Kids Club, drawing around 300 children per week for Bible memorization and teaching, activities, and a snack or meal. PFK also partners with Calvary Chapel Christian Academy (CCCA), an elementary school on the property of Calvary Chapel Entebbe providing quality and Christ-centered education to the 300+ children who attend. Additionally, PFK provides for scholarships for 120 children to attend either CCCA or another private school in the area, as a part of the Child Discipleship Program. Children are specifically selected for this program that would be otherwise unable to attend school, and so these scholarships truly give the gift of a whole new
opportunity in life through education to these kids, while connecting each child with the local church for discipleship and training in the Word of God.
An additional component to the work of PFK and Calvary Chapel Entebbe is the Island Outreach which brings medical care, the love and truth of Jesus Christ, and children’s programs to impoverished islands. As the Calvary Chapel Entebbe church property directly borders Lake Victoria, this provides a huge open door for the ministry to weekly visit these islands, anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours away, and usher in the compassion and hope of the love of Christ though both spiritual and physical aid.
PFK Uganda in partnership with Calvary Chapel Entebbe strives to provide a progression of discipleship that leads to a pathway out of poverty and most importantly imparts the truth and hope of Jesus Christ, in doing so, not only are thousands of children’s lives being transformed, but entire families and communities are effected.
