An open door for PFM in Kenya came in 2011 through a long-standing ministry relationship with Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver, WA and Senior Pastor Daniel Fusco. Through their introduction to various ministries in Kenya, PFM has established a far-reaching work in Ongata Rongai, just south of Nairobi, Kenya in partnership with Calvary Chapel Rongai and Pastor Gitu Evanson.
PFK Kenya has steadily multiplied in ministries and outreaches, including a Saturday Kids Club providing a meal, the gospel, and relationship-building activities to more than 300 children each week: a free daily tutoring program with 200 children: and Potter’s Field Christian Academy, an elementary school providing education for 80 underprivileged children in kindergarten through third grade.
IGNITE interns in Kenya serve alongside PFM missionaries, Geoff and Linda Simpson. In addition to assisting in the running of the PFK programs in Kenya, they also teach the Word of God each week in nearby public schools and weekly visit the local orphanage. In both of these areas, PFM is able to build relationships, care for practical needs, and bring the gospel in the flesh to hundreds of disadvantaged children, on top of that which is already being accomplished through the regular PFK programs. The ministry in Kenya has also been the first to birth a brand new PFK location through local Kenyan staff who have caught the vision of PFM and have launched out to begin a work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Potter’s Field Ministries’ goal is to transform lives forever, and we have seen how children and their families’ lives have indeed been transformed through learning God’s truths, being discipled, and seeing His love carried out in practical ways all around them. PFK Kenya is a testimony of this vision in reality and the growth in that location has no foreseeable limit!
