Curriculum & Field Time

During the training phase of IGNITE, interns are equipped through classroom time, personal Bible study, discipleship, and team challenges. The book of Acts is a foundation for study and instruction in missions, supplemented by classes covering basic doctrine, apologetics, the life of Jesus, and the Inductive Bible Study method. Added to these fundamental studies are activities and environments fostering intentional discipleship as well as building unity and teamwork among the interns.

Upon completion of the three months of training, interns are deployed in teams to one of Potter's Field Kids' international locations where they will be given the opportunity to put hands and feet to their faith by serving the least of these for six months, further transforming their own lives as they do. Aside from hands-on immersion in daily functions of an international ministry, interns will be challenged and equipped through further studies centered around select missions topics as well as Inductive Bible Study.

Location assignments for the field time phase of IGNITE are prayerfully selected by the leadership of Potter's Field Ministries, fitting each intern into the team and ministry best suited to their giftings, skills, and the needs of the ministry itself.

Returning to Potter's Field Ministries in the United States for one month of re-entry, interns are given tools, opportunities, and input to help guide them as they reflect on the lessons and experiences of their field time. This month of debriefing will also provide valuable occasions for each individual to put definition and action to the work that the Lord has accomplished in their lives over the last nine months as well as the vision He might be impressing on their hearts for the future.

The culmination of the IGNITE Mission Training School takes place in each intern's sending church, with two months of service within the local Body of Christ. As the needs and opportunities of each church varies, so will the format of the intern's final two-month phase of IGNITE. Potter's Field Ministries works closely with each sending pastor, creating a framework which launches the intern into living on mission in their local church and community.
