In Uganda, Potter’s Field Ministries partners with Calvary Chapel Entebbe, which is overseen by Pastor Craig Linquist and his wife, Loren. The Linquists have three children: Aleksander, Jonathan, and Nathanael.
In 2009, Pastor Don McClure made the introduction between PFM and the Linquists’ work in Entebbe, Uganda. Since then, Potter’s Field Kids has come alongside Calvary Chapel Entebbe to support and launch a variety of different programs reaching out to the thousands of children in the surrounding community.
Our first Kids Club program was birthed in Entebbe, drawing hundreds of children per week for Bible memorization, activities, and a snack or meal. The Calvary Chapel Entebbe church property also houses a Christian elementary school (Calvary Chapel Christian Academy) providing quality education while teaching the Word of God to the children who attend. Another program onsite, the Homework Club, brings additional academic assistance and physical education to local children. Potter’s Field Kids also provides scholarships to children in the Entebbe area, enabling otherwise unschooled kids to receive their education through the Child Scholarship Program.
Another component to the work of PFK in Entebbe is the Island Outreach. The church property borders Lake Victoria and a team of individuals and medical personnel travel by boat each week to visit islands anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours away. Those that live on these remote islands are challenged by extremely impoverished living conditions in the midst of a high rate of AIDS/HIV infection. We have coupled a variation of our Kids Club with a concentrated medical and evangelical outreach on eight of these islands, ushering in the compassion and hope of the love of Christ through both spiritual and physical aid.
